Musicians from 18 countries and 16 Indian states are set to come to Bengaluru for the Brillante Piano Festival organized by Chokkapan S. The sense of community in Bengaluru is strong, with the city embracing various forms of arts and culture, according to Khyochano TCK, a Naga pianist who is bringing the festival to the city this weekend. "The festival aims to unite musicians from various backgrounds under one purpose and vision," says Khyochano. He highlights Bengaluru's vibrant cultural landscape as an ideal setting for the festival, which originated in Kohima, Nagaland in 2017. The event will showcase performances, workshops, competitions, and masterclasses in jazz, contemporary, and classical music genres, as well as include a platform for Specially Abled Musicians (SAM). Khyochano emphasizes the importance of inclusivity, stating, "In our fourth edition in 2023, we decided to fully embrace inclusivity, aiming to inspire admiration rather than pity towards special children." Leading up to the festival, a street piano event was held on Church Street, demonstrating the community's engagement and creativity through music. Khyochano describes the event as a reflection of the power of music and art to bring diverse communities together.
